Midway
Centering on broad and bustling Snelling Avenue, the cosmopolitan but unpretentious Midway actually contains a midway--the one that comes to life every summer on the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, in the northern part of the neighborhood. A little ways south on Snelling, some excellent and inexpensive ethnic restaurants--Korean and Turkish--share the street with the comfortably funky Ginkgo Coffeehouse, one of the city's best places to catch early-career singer-songwriters. Nearby is Hamline University, a liberal arts school with a beautiful recital hall that welcomes a broad range of classical music performances.
