Last Wednesday, some 150 Minnesota Muslims got together to share concerns and hopes with their legislators at the ninth Muslim Day at the Capitol. Organized by the
Muslim American Society of Minnesota, the annual event is a chance for people from our diverse Muslim community to talk with lawmakers about a whole range of concerns, from business development to education to health care. As
MN 2020 fellow Salman Mitha points out on the soundtrack, "the Muslim community spans the entire range of economic activity," from small business ownership to the professions--so these citizen-stakeholders aren't a simple, single interest group--they're vitally concerned with helping the state prosper at every level.
