Revisiting Community Gardens: A slide show
With winter nipping at our heels, we thought it would be appropriate to take a lingering second look at the beautiful Twin Cities community gardens that Managing Photographer Bill Kelley shot back in August--urban spaces where neighbors plant and harvest together. In one, the Jordan Area Community Garden on the North Side, neighbors transformed an empty lot into a blooming green space full of hope. In another, the Eat Street Community Garden, you'll see a motley group of actors and opera singers performing a country-and-western update of Handel's opera Alcina; the itinerant performance troupe Mixed Precipitation took the opera to several community gardens through the end of September.
