Revisiting Community Gardens: A slide show

With winter nipping at our heels, we thought it would be appropriate to take a lingering second look at the beautiful Twin Cities community gardens that Managing Photographer Bill Kelley shot back in August--urban spaces where neighbors plant and harvest together. In one, the Jordan Area Community Garden on the North Side, neighbors transformed an empty lot into a blooming green space full of hope. In another, the Eat Street Community Garden, you'll see a motley group of actors and opera singers performing a country-and-western update of Handel's opera Alcina; the itinerant performance troupe Mixed Precipitation took the opera to several community gardens through the end of September. For info on these gardens and many more, visit the nonprofit Gardening Matters.
