The two groups that anchor the Twin Cities' food and restaurant renaissance--the growers and the chefs--came together in impressive numbers Sunday night for
Farm in the Cities, the second annual celebration of furrow-to-table hyperlocal food culture, held at our preeminent Spanish restaurant,
Solera. And Managing Photographer Bill Kelley was there.
The event kicked off with a meet-and-greet on Solera's second floor, where representatives of 13 local farms displayed their wares. Then came a six-course tasting dinner on the third floor, prepared by 13 of the area's top chefs, including Lenny Russo of
Heartland, Steven Brown of
Tilia, and Solera's own Jorge Guzman. All proceeds went to the
Youth Farm and Market Project, which helps inner-city kids learn about urban farming and good nutrition, and gives them the leadership skills to keep our renaissance rolling.
