Our photographer, Bill Kelley, took a leisurely trip from Maryland Avenue to Selby Avenue on Dale Street, making images of the many faces of this great old Saint Paul street, which first appeared on maps in 1871, when it was near the city's western border.

Bars is a new bakery specializing in gourmet versions of the classic Midwestern treats for which it's named. It's part of the development of two apartment buildings on Selby and Dale that includes, at street level, a hair-braiding salon, two boutiques, and a Thai restaurant.
